Education At Adat Re'imAt Adat Re'im, we believe that Jewish education is a pursuit to be enjoyed at any age, and for a lifetime. Through lifelong Jewish learning, we enhance our Jewish experience, and strengthening ourselves and our community, and making Judaism relevant to our lives. Adat Re’im offers a variety of educational opportunities for both youth and adults. For YouthAdat Re'im offers religious school programs for children from kindergarten through 12th grade. Our school has two divisions, the first for kindergarten through 7th grades, and the second for 8th through 12th grades. The K-7th grade curriculum focuses on, the annual holiday cycle, bible stories, introduction to Hebrew, ethics and values. K-3rd grade students meet on Sunday mornings, beginning each session with a morning service with Rabbi Jay that combines learning the prayers of the siddur with general Jewish lessons. The 4th-7th grade curriculum focuses on prayer Hebrew, Jewish history, the Jewish life cycle, the annual holiday cycle, mitzvot, ethics and values. 4th-7th grade students meet on Sunday mornings, beginning each session with a morning service with Rabbi Jay that combines learning the prayers of the siddur with general Jewish lessons. They also meet one afternoon each week, focusing on Hebrew prayer skills. The 8th-12th grade curriculum focuses on Jewish current events, and values, as well as issues raised by the students in the class. 8th-12th grade students meet twice monthly on Sunday mornings. We believe that educating the next generation of Jews is a communal responsibility shared by teachers, parents, clergy and all members of the community. We understand that classroom instruction is only a limited tool in Jewish education. We encourage parents (and non-parent members as well) to teach by example, by participating actively in our education programs, and in congregational life in general. Bar/Bat Mitzvah at Adat Re’imBar/Bat Mitzvah is a stepping stone in Jewish education. Rabbi Jay works privately with every family to create a service that is tailored to each student. Every student studies privately with Rabbi Jay, perfecting Torah reading skills, analyzing their parashah, and learning how to lead major sections of the Shabbat morning service. It is our expectation at Adat Re’im that all students continue their Jewish education beyond Bar/Bat Mitzvah. We are proud that we have a 100% retention rate beyond Bar/Bat Mitzvah. For AdultsAdat Re'im also offers a variety of adult education programs. All of our programs are designed to encourage lifelong Jewish learning, and are structured to meet the needs and desires of our members.Adat Re’im currently offers:
