About Us

Who Are We?

Adat Re'im means - "A Community Of Friends And Neighbors." As the Inland Empire's newest Jewish congregation, we celebrate the traditions of Judaism's past while embracing its future. We are adults and children, families, singles and seniors, coming together to joyfully share the vibrant life of Judaism through prayer, learning, social actions and simply being together. In just two short years, we have created a warm, spiritual Jewish home for our community through a participatory congregation that offers a range of opportunities for religious, spiritual, educational and social growth.

Prayer At Adat Re'im

Adat Re'im is an independent congregation. We are not affiliated with a national movement, so we take a trans-denominational approach to prayer. Trans-denominational means that we take a little bit from each of the movements (Reform, Conservative, Orthodox, Reconstructionist, Renewal, etc.), and we weave it all together into a prayer experience that speaks to the hearts and souls of our congregants. At Adat Re'im, prayer is a musical, participatory, and joyful experience.

The Acting Rabbi

The spiritual leader of Adat Re'im is Jay Sherwood, an experienced and charismatic Jewish educator, and a fourth year rabbinical student at the Academy for Jewish Religion, California. For more than twenty years, Jay has worked as an educator, song leader, and teacher in the Southern California Jewish community. Before coming to Adat Re'im, Jay served for three years as the Rabbinic Intern/Jewish Educator at Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services in West Los Angeles, a residential treatment facility for children with severe emotional and behavioral disorders, and then for four years as the Director of Education at Temple Beth Israel in Pomona. Jay has also worked as a camp director, program director, Jewish educator, song leader, and even lifeguard, at Jewish summer camps throughout the United States and Israel.
